Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA): A biopolymer of nucleosides joined by a phosphodiester group between the 3' carbon of one nucleoside and the 5' carbon of the next nucleoside. Can also be considered as a nucleotide biopolymer. Carries the genetic code in all known living organisms.
