Organocopper reagent: An organometallic compound having a carbon-copper bond.

Methyllithium
(an organolithium reagent)

Methylcopper
(an organocopper reagent)

Lithium dimethylcuprate
(an organocopper reagent)
Formation of lithium dimethylcuprate, an organocopper reagent, involves several organometallic compounds. The process begins by transmetalation of methyllithium (an organolithium reagent) with cuprous iodide (CuI) to form methylcopper, an organocopper reagent. Addition of a second equivalent of methyllithium produces lithium dimethylcuprate, another organocopper reagent.
