Fluorination: Any reaction or process in which fluorine (and no other elements) are introduced into a molecule.

Fluorination of an alkene by electrophilic addition of F2. Molecular fluorine adds to the carbon-carbon pi bond of cyclohexene in a highly exothermic reaction, to produce trans-1,2-difluorocyclohexane.

Photochemical free radical fluorination of methane produces tetrafluoromethane and hydrogen fluoride.
