Corey-Fuchs reaction: A reaction in which an aldehyde is reacted with carbon tetrabromide (CBr4) and triphenylphosphine (PPh3), producing a 1,1-dibromoalkene. This dibromoalkene is then reacted with butyllithium to produce a terminal alkyne.

General form of the Corey-Fuchs reaction.
