C-terminus: The end of a peptide or protein primary structure in which the amino acid residue's carbonyl group is not part of a peptide bond. This carbonyl group will be part of a carboxylic acid, carboxylate, or (rarely) a carboxylic acid derivative such as an ester.

The amino acid Val is the C-terminus of this tripeptide.
